Funeral services for Lewis Patton were held on Saturday, November 18, 1961 at 2:00 p.m at the Sutphen Funeral Home with the Rev. E. T. Bodwell officiating. Casket bearers included Vern Lewis, Orville Marsh, Harold Peters, Earl Selby, Jake Butler, and Glenn Findley. Flower bearers were Mrs. George Lindberg and Mrs. Dennie Neal. Music was by Mrs. Helen Penwell and Mrs. Frances Gray.
Concluding service and interment in Arlington Cemetery.
Lewis Patton was born December 12, 1878 at Farmington, Illinois. He came to Iowa at the age of 19 settling in the Villisca community. With the exception of two years spent in Missouri, he had lived and engaged in farm work in this area since 1898. He was married March 28, 1900 to Louisa Jane Frist who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Clara Findley of Cedar Rapids; and Road Thompson of Sioux City; a son, Donald of Council Bluffs; three grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a cousin, Mrs. Grace Butler of Villisca.
He suffered a heart attack, October 17, and was convalescing at his home in Villisca when death came peacefully while he was taking a nap November 16. He was 82 years, 11 months, and 4 days of age.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Hannah Patton; five sisters and one brother.
