ABERDEEN -- Albert Lucas Langenwalter, 92, died Friday, Jan. 11, 1985 at the Bingham County Nursing Home in Blackfoot.
He was born Nov. 5, 1892, at Halstead, Kan., to Daniel and Christina Schmatz (sic) Langenwalter. He was reared and educated at Halstead. He then attended Bethel College at North Newton, Kan., for two years and Kansas State Agricultural College for one year.
From 1917-1918 he served in the U.S Army Medical Corps.
On Oct. 20, 1920, he married Ida Berger at Trenton, Ill. The couple came to Aberdeen in 1924 to make their home. From 1926 to 1929 they operated the Sterling Grocery Store. In 1930 and 1931, he worked as a janitor for the Aberdeen School District. He purchased a dairy in Aberdeen and for 18 years operated the dairy and delivered milk.
For many years he worked as a painter, retiring at age 79.
For the last few years he has been at the Blackfoot Living Center, and then at the Bingham County Nursing Home.
He was a member of the Mennonite Church. He was a former member of the Aberdeen City Council.
His wife died in February 1966.
He is survived by one daughter, Edith Prestidge of Aberdeen; one son, Art Langenwalter of Aberdeen; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be today at 2 p.m. at the Mennonite Church in Aberdeen, with the Rev. Lance Eisele officiating.
Burial will be in the Homestead Cemetery in Aberdeen under the direction of Davis Mortuary.
Friends may call at Davis Mortuary in American Falls today from 8-11 a.m. and at the church from 1 p.m. until time of the services."
