Franklin Delanor "Frank" Skidmore, 77, of Mooresville, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Harlan, Ky., on July 20, 1932, and was the son of the late McKinley and Amanda Blevins Skidmore. He was a veteran of the U.S Army as a security guard. He retired from Eaton's Corporation in Marion, Ohio, and was a security guard for Thomasville Furniture in Troutman, was later employed with Kewanee Metal Cabinet Company in Statesville, and had been a police officer in LaRue, Ohio. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Frankie Skidmore; a daughter, Carolyn Sue Skidmore; two brothers, Lawrence and Jimmie Skidmore; a sister, Alice Naper, and a grandson, Stephen Alexander Hoots. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Eva Oliver Skidmore, of Mooresville; children, Theresa Lynn Corbin and husband Alan, of LaRue, Ohio, Kimberly Sue Overcash and husband, Larry, of Troutman, Patricia Blevins, of LaRue, Ohio, and Tammy Reid and husband, David, of Florida; brothers, Willie Skidmore, of Auburn, Ind., Skip Skidmore, of Statesville; sisters, Grace Gunn, of Auburn, Ind., Justice Eddins and Pauline Harris, both of Sacramento, Calif., and Ana Mae Rigney, of Ages, Ky.; seven grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home Chapel. The family will recieve friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 15, at the Salisbury National Military Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625. Cavin-Cook Funeral Home, Mooresville, is serving the Skidmore family.
