Only son of Richard Mowry and Huldah Harris. He wanted to be a physician but his father did not approve. He was a man of many capabilities. While not a lawyer or doctor he was frequently called upon by the townspeople to give his advise on those and many other topics. He held many public offices too. He married Ruth Wheeler on October 3, 1799 and had 6 children with her before she died in 1816 at age 35. He married a second time to Anne Dennis on May 6, 1818 and had 3 more children with her. He outlived her as well.
