Sandra (Schwarm) Crawford, 69, of 36 Hamlin Street, Manchester, beloved wife of the late Donald R. Crawford Sr., passed away peacefully on Saturday (August 7, 2010) at her home with her family at her side.
She was born January 8, 1941 in Hartford, daughter of the late Robert & Ethel (McBride) Schwarm, and had been a resident of Manchester since 1971.
Sandy was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Temple Chapter # 53, she was a Past President of the V.F.W. Post # 241 Woman's Auxiliary, she enjoyed arts and crafts, quilting and was devoted to her pets. She was Secretary for T.O.P.S. and prior to her retirement in 2009 she had worked at the Manchester Stop & Shop for many years as a cashier.
Mrs. Crawford is survived by two sons, and daughters-in-law, Robert R. and Donna Crawford and William J. and Cynthia Crawford all of Manchester, her daughter and son-in-law Sherry L. and Barry Porritt of Dunedin, FL, her brother, Warren Schwarm and his wife Shirley of California, three sisters, Nancy Sibley and her husband Dick of Maine, Cheryl Olander and her husband Ken of South Windsor, and Barbara Dickens of Florida, four grandchildren, Cynthia Crawford, Tyler Crawford, Jenna Crawford, Melody Crawford, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was predeceased by her son Donald R. Crawford Jr. and two brothers, Brian Schwarm and Arthur Schwarm.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday (August 12, 2010) at 11:00 a.m. at Holmes Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Manchester.
Burial will be in the East Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home, with an Order of the Eastern Star Service at 7:30 p.m.
