DAVID was the son of Hardy H. Baird and Nancy (Baird) Baird. His parents were first cousins. He married Julia A. McAlister on May 14, 1861, in Gibson County, Tennessee.

David and Julia were the parents of nine children--John, Nancy Emily, Sallie, Tennessee, Ella Rebecca, James Thomas, Wilse, Mollie, and Georgia Etta.
