She was born Aug. 19, 1930, in Judsonia, Ark. to George B.E. and Zella Amanda Foshee Brown. On Sept. 1, 1956, she married Art Shappell, who survives.
Mrs. Shappell was a homemaker.
She was a member, Sunday school teacher and very active in Lima Community Church of the Nazarene. She served on the board of Mount Vernon Nazarene College, LCC of the Nazarene Church board and 20 years on the board of trustees of the American Heart Association. She was an NWMS "Missionary President."
Survivors also include a son, Daniel (Kimberly) Shappell of Elida; three daughters, Cynthia (Donald) Unruh and Carol Martini, both of Lima, and Nancy (Jim) Jackman of Elida; two brothers, Willie Brown of Judsonia, Ark., and Donnie Brown of Cearcy, Ark.; three sisters, Lela Baker of Toledo, Rudy Brown and Georgette Arviso, both of Judsonia, Ark.; and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was precede in death by two brothers, Vernon and Roy Brown; and a sister, Modine Allen.
Services will begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Shawnee Chapel of Chiles and Sons-Laman Funeral Homes. Dr. R. Wayne Sharpes will officiate.
