Raymond F. Roach, 84, Logansport, passed away at 6:50 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, in WoodBridge Health Campus.
Born March 19, 1926, in Logansport, Raymond F. Roach was the son of Charles E. And Lula E. Kloenne Roach. On March 20, 1946, he married Margaret, who preceded him in death on Feb. 8, 2001.
Ray worked at Art's Garage and then for 22 years at Jackson-Kitchel.
In 1992, he retired from Erny's Fertilizer after 17 years. He enjoyed working on trucks and lawn mowers.
During World War II, Raymond served in the U.S. Army in Company A, 232nd Infantry Rainbow, 42nd Division. He received a Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge and two Battle Stars.
He was a life member of VFW Post 3790 in Logansport, where he served as post commander and quartermaster. In District II, he was past district commander and quartermaster. He was also a member of American Legion Post 418 in Walton, the Rainbow Veterans, and Walton Ti-Wa Antique Tractor Club.
Surviving are children, J. Ronald (Judy) Roach, Eddy, Texas, Linda (Bill) Srader, Avon, Peggy (Kent) Billiard, and Albert Roach, all of Logansport, Steve Roach, LaPorte, and Jeffrey (Sonia) Roach, Brownsburg. Also surviving are grandchildren, Rena Scaramucci, Hope Snyder, Kelly Bonhomme, Michael Bonhomme, Jacob Kitchel, Albert Roach, Noah Roach, Nathan Roach, Josh Roach, Tyler Roach and Levi Roach; stepgrandchildren, Bridget Muller, Eric Billiard, Angela Eastridge, Kimberly Shank, Robert Srader and Carmen Stroup; 22 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret; brothers, Art, Robert and Herman; and sisters, Mary Fettig, Emma Roach and Louise Fisher.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kroeger Funeral Home with Dr. George Plasterer officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Burial, with full military honors, will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
