Kendrick King McDonald Brady was born 12 Nov 1829 in Stewart County, Georgia. He was about 1yr and 3 mos. old when his father, Major Nathan Brady was shot by a rogue Indian. He was the only child of Nathan Brady and Lavinah (Lunceford/Lunsford). His father Nathan had served in the Georgia Militia and achieved the rank of Major, the Georgia House of Representatives, and as Commissioner of Roads in Randolph County which became Stewart County until he was shot. We know King's full name was Kendrick McDonald King Brady from the guardianship papers he had. Georgia law required a guardian be assigned to him because of his father. I have not ever seen him sign any papers anything other than King Brady. So that is surely what he chose to go by. King served in Company D 4th Georgia Infantry under Captain Cherry. He served 2 years in the Confederate Army and was a prisoner of war the last 6 months of the war. He was a Mason because there is a record of his attending a meeting at the Acton Lodge. His first wife was Marianna Hardin and they married on October 31, 1855. She died in March 1856. They were only married for five months and they had no children. He later married Mary's sister, Susan Hardin on April 30, 1857 and they moved to Texas. Eventually, Susan's whole family moved to different parts of Texas. King and Susan's children were: Charles A. Brady, Moses Brady, Walter Amos Brady, Sarah "Sallie" Jenkins Mayfield, Mary Eulalie Brady Gideon, Ella C. Brady and another child who died in infancy. King bought property in the Fall Creek area of Hood County, Texas and worked as a farmer. His property was very close to Elizabeth Crockett's property that she was given by the State of Texas because of David's service to Texas at the Alamo. King passed away in 1906 in Fall Creek Community, Hood County, Texas .
