LIU--Joan (born Joan Brown Harrop), died peacefully in Chestnut Hill, MA, on August 28, 2008. Born in Manchester, England in 1923, she attended London University, and began working for the United Nations in 1945. Previously of New Rochelle and Bronxville, she was the wife of the late F.T. Liu. She will be missed by her sister Margaret Morris, of Chester, England, by her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Karen Liu, and their children John and Mark, and by her daughter and son in-law, Margaret and Scott McConnell, and their children Neil, Anna and Kristen, and by her great-granddaughter Ruby Weg McConnell. A memorial service will be held in Trinity Episcopal Church, 11 Homer St., Newton Centre, MA, at 1pm on Saturday September 13.
