W. H. True, Survivor of Rebel Prison, is Dead at Jacksonville - Jacksonville, July 21. William H. True, veteran of the Civil war and a survivor of the famous Confederate prison at Andersonville, Ga., died at his home here Thursday night at the age of 81 years. The funeral services will be held Sunday morning and the remains will be taken to Springfield by motor for burial in Oak Ridge cemetery.
Deceased was born in Coles county, Missouri, but came to Morgan county at an early age. At the outbreak of the Civil war he went to Springfield and enlisted in the Union army. Seven months Mr. True was held prisoner in the Andersonville prison and when he was released his health was broken. IL State Register, Springfield, IL, 7-21-1922
