He was born Aug. 1, 1924, in Lorain, and lived in Lorain for 57 years before moving to Elyria.

He was a graduate of Lorain High School class of 1943 A, and attended Bowling Green State University.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II.

Crump retired as a salesman for the Goodman Beverage Co., after 15 years of service.

He was baptized in the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Lorain, and later in life transferred his membership to the First United Methodist Church of Lorain. He was a member of VFW Post 1079, Elyria, and the American Legion.

Survivors include his daughter, Leslie Crump Zuk of Worthington; two grandchildren; sister Daisy Pivacek Rich of Elyria; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Dangler Crump, in 1992; father, Edward A. Crump; and mother, Elizabeth Pycraft Crump Buttle.

Friends may call Monday 7 to 9 p.m. at Schwartz-Spence & Boyer Home for Funerals, 1124 W. 5th St., Lorain. Friends may also call from Tuesday 10 a.m. until time of services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Chaplain Paul A. Birmingham, chaplain of the Ohio Veterans Home, will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, with full military honors provided by VFW Post 1079 of Elyria.
