The Wellington Leader August 1, 1985

Dewey (Dood) Haragan, 65, of Sudan died in Lubbock Methodist Hospital on Monday, July 11. He was a former Dodson man and returned there often to visit his sister and brother-in-law, Mayor and Mrs. Thurman Crownover. He was born April 5, 1920, in Fox, Okla., the son of Ira T. Haragan and Jesse Cassity Haragan. They moved to Dodson in
1924. Mr. Haragan was a veteran of World War II, serving as a photographer with the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Haragan was a barber and a
landowner at Sudan. He was a successful artist and owned art and frame shops in which his paintings were exhibited in Sudan. He is well known for his windmill paintings. Many people in both the Dodson
area and on the Plains have received his paintings as gifts from
the artist. In addition, Mr. Haragan had published prints from many of his works. He retired about two years ago. He was married to Mayble Kent of Sudan in 1942. His last visits to Dodson were at
the school reunion at Easter, and again a short time later.

He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Sandra Baker of Lubbock, and two grandchildren, James Humphrey of Sudan and Greg Humphrey of Brownwood.
