Born September 6, 1928 in Cove Arkansas, daughter of Laura and George May entered into the eternal care of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 8, 2010. Throughout her life Marcella embraced her Christian faith always looking to serve God, as well as her family and friends.
Marcella married David B. Phillips on May 3, 1946. Together the two farmed the 100+acre family farm near Wicks, Arkansas raising strawberries for market. In 1962 the couple settled in Rocklin, California where David was employed by Sierra College. Marcella worked in the food service department at Sierra for a number of years. In 1978 Marcella and David retired to a home overlooking the Rogue River Valley near Eagle Point Oregon, and then returned to Roseville in 1989 when David was terminally ill with cancer.
With the passing of her husband in February of 1990, Marcella continued to live in Roseville working from her home as a seamstress, specializing in alterations and making prom and wedding dresses. Marcella was an avid reader, loved to tend her flowers, crochet and quilt.
Marcella is survived by her daughter, Judy Allton and husband Steve of Star, Idaho; her son David and wife Rosie of Roseville; granddaughter, Denise Erickson and husband Mike of Roseville; granddaughter, Becky Meehan and husband Doug of Visalia; grandson, Philip Regalado of Roseville; great-grandchildren, Michael Erickson, Ashley Erickson, Joshua Erickson, Megan Meehan and Jacob Meehan.
A viewing is to be held Monday, August 16, 2010 from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at Cochrane's Chapel of the Roses 103 Lincoln Street, Roseville, CA 95678 on August 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. Private Commital at Roseville District Cemetery. Memorial remembrances may be made in Marcella's name to the American Cancer Society .
