Charity Ward Roupe, 73, wife of Silas B. Roupe, of West Waynesburg, died at her home Tuesday, April 21, 1953, at 1:50 a.m., after a lingering illness.

She was born Aug. 19, 1897, at Nettle Hill, a daughter of Harrison and Minerva Phillips Rhome and had lived most of her life in the West Waynesburg community. She was twice married. Her first husband, Frank Ward, preceded her in death nine years ago.

Surviving in addition to her husband are four children: Mrs. Harold Colebank, Mrs. Ralph Hoy and Russell Ward, all of Washington; Clyde Ward, West Waynesburg; five step-children, Mrs. Irene Hays and Mrs. Nellie Wood, of Washington; Mrs. Caroline Hammer, of Midland, Texas; Ernest Roupe, Pontiac, Mich.; Theodore Roupe, Bridgeville; two brothers, Melvin Rhome, Canonsburg, and Earl Rhome, Washington; and two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Stricklan, Washington, and Mrs. Grace Stein, Camden, N. J. thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren survive.

She was a member of the Nazarene Church of Waynesburg.
