TOPEKA - David Lee "Dave" Guenther, 71, of Topeka and formerly of Yates Center, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

He was born March 22, 1932, in Yates Center, the son of Fred A. and Sarah Alice Millison Guenther.

He grew up in Yates Center, graduating from Yates Center High School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.

He attended Kansas State University. He worked for the city of Austin, Texas as a draftsman.

He later moved to Topeka. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Austin, Texas.

Survivors include four brothers, Ronald Guenther, Oakley, Larry and Neil Guenther, both of Lee's Summitt, Mo., and Tom Guenther, Kansas City, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Guenther, Jr., and a sister, Norma.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, Jan. 5, at Yates Center Cemetery after the family receives friends.

The family will receive friends from 1 - 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the First United Methodist Church in Yates Center may be left with the funeral home.
