James P. Stinson, 76, Stilesville, passed away on August 6, 2010 at Hendricks Regional Health in Danville after a fight with cancer.

He was born on August 2, 1934 I n Jewel Ridge, VA and was the son of the late John K. Stinson and Lera M. [Whitt] Stinson Cook.

James married Wanda [Caudill] Stinson on October 3, 1959, she survives, after serving two years in the U. S. Army, 17 months of which was in Korea.
James was a retiree of the IBEW Local 481, and an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing, hunting and gardening.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Bill [Cindy] Stinson, Greencastle, Doug [Teresa] Stinson, Greencastle, Thomas [Amber] Stinson, Avon and Amy Stinson, Stilesville; grandchildren, Cody and Chyeanne Stinson, Brownsburg, Maddison and Gracie Stinson, Avon, Robert, Raymond and Conner Stinson, Greencastle; sister, Betty Jean Allee, Reelsville, brothers; Hansford [Rhonda] Stinson, Fillmore and Robert J. Stinson, Brazil; sister-in-law, Phyllis [Caudill] Hamilton, Greencastle, three aunts and one uncle.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his children, Jamie and Lori Leigh Stinson, brothers, Glen and David Stinson and his step-father, Thomas Cook.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 3:15 PM at the Deer Creek Cemetery, Greencastle with Rev. Steve Williams officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 from 12:00 PM [noon] to 3:00 PM at the Whitaker Funeral Home, Cloverdale.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his children, Jamie and Lori Leigh Stinson, brothers, Glen and David Stinson and his step-father, Thomas Cook.
