WILLARD JAMES "Jim" KEMPER , age 68, of Leesburg, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on June 7th, 2005. He was born on July 28, 1936 in Purcellville, Virginia to Bruce and Helen Kemper. He graduated from Loudoun County High School in Leesburg, Virginia in 1955 and entered the US Air Force. He was stationed in Fort Meade, Maryland and was discharged in 1962. Jim worked at the U.S.P.O. from 1963 to 1964. In 1965, he was employed by the Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration, where he worked for 29 years and retired in October 1994.

Jim was an avid golfer, but enjoyed all types of sports. His favorite pastime was watching sports on TV and rooting for his favorite teams- the Philadelphia Eagles football team and Oakland Athletics baseball team. One of his hobbies was collecting baseball cards and another was bowling. He was a member of Loudoun Baptist Temple in Leesburg.

Jim will be especially remembered by his family and friends for his bold witness for the Lord to the hospital staff, his sense of humor, and being the a "favorite uncle" to all his nieces and nephews as well as a loving father and Grandfather.

Mr. Kemper is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 29 years. Joan
(McCaskill) Kemper and his mother-in-law, Mrs. Elsie McCaskill of Leesburg. Also surviving are his daughter, Madonna Taylor and her husband, Cliff, of Unionville, Virginia, three grandchildren, Marci Kales, Lee Engle, and Leslie Taylor and three great grand children. He is also survived by two brothers, Rev. John W. Kemper of Lafayette, CO and Robert Kemper of Midlothian, VA and four sisters, Lillie Payne of Strasburg, VA, Eulalia French of Longmont, CO, Dorothy Kemper, and Helen Runion of Ruther Glen, VA and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Helen Kemper, and his brother, Harry Kemper, Jr. of Crestview, Florida.

Mr. Kemper's remains rest at the Colonial Funeral Home, 201 Edwards Ferry Road, NE, Leesburg, VA, where the family will receive friends on June 13th from
10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on June 13th at 11:00 a.m. at the Colonial Funeral Home in Leesburg with Rev. Eugene Nichols and Rev. John Kemper presiding. Internment will follow at the Union Cemetery in Leesburg.

In lieu of flowers for the funeral you may wish to send donations to the Kemper Memorial Athletic Fund in his memory.
