Samuel served as a Corporal, Company D, 1st Delaware Regiment during the Civil War.

He first joined the service on April 1, 1861 in Camden, Delaware. He was mustered into Company D, First Regiment, Delaware Volunteer Infantry on May 3, 1861 as a Private. This unit served a three month term guarding the Railroads around Washington, D.C. and were mustered out on August 26, 1861.

He then re-enlisted on September 3, 1861 in Milford, Delaware. He was noted, at this time, as being 21 years old, a Carpenter, and residing in Milton, Delaware. Do to his prior service he was immediately given the rank of Corporal.

Samuel "Died Of Disease" at Camp Hamilton, Virginia during the war.

Son of Samuel Stevenson & Eliza Ann White Stevenson.
