"Vanillia Clay Scroggins Our beloved mother, Mrs. Vanillia Clay Scroggins, was called home to glory and everlasting peace Friday evening, November 12, 2004, by our savior. Loved by all she met, especially her devoted daughters, she will be greatly missed by those whose life she touched. Forever smiling, she was born on September 15, 1938, in Wharton County, Texas, to loving parents. She was a successful member of the student government council, athlete and drum majorette while attending Booker T. Washington High School in Elgin, Tx., until she graduated in 1958. She was a successful real estate agent for many years and in 1978 served as President of the Women's Council of Realtors of The National Association of Realtors of Austin, Tx. She received numerous awards and was asked to speak at many special events for her outstanding service to the community, commitment to real estate and women's issues. In 1986 she accepted a position with the United States Postal Service as a Rural Route Relief Carrier and was an active member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association and the Postal Employees Union. She enjoyed many happy chats with the customers on her route and often spoke fondly of them. Widely traveled, she especially enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas, Nev., with family and friends and experiencing all it had to offer. She leaves four daughters to mourn: Sandra Bouldwin, Janet Marshall, Felicia Scroggins, and Nina White...."
