A memorial service is going to be held on Tuesday, August 17 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mapleton with Rev. Vicki Hultine officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Union Cemetery. Olson-Tichenor Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Carol was born on February 5, 1948 in Minneapolis to Felix and Francis (Skinner) Fleisher. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis in 1966 and received her bachelor's degree from Mankato State University. On August 23, 1969 Carol was united in marriage to Jerry Griggs. Carol taught and created summer crafts at the library and through community education. She was interested in quilting and machine embroidery. She used to have her own printing business and would make buttons for Town and Country Days. Carol was active in AmeriCorp and worked with the senior citizens. At one point in time she was active with youth groups, especially Campfire Girls, Girl Scouts, and 4-H. Carol absolutely loved children.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; children, Cindy Merritt and Jerome Griggs; grandchildren, Jerran and Brian Merritt; mother, Francis Fleisher; sisters, Cindy Brown and Marcie (Brian) Martig; brother, Stephen Fleisher; two sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.
