He worked for Defence Finance Accounting Services as a Finance Management Analyst. Eric enjoyed his time by spending it with family and friends. Eric recently became a member of the Harley Davidson club where he planned on participating in bike runs to help children in need, as this was one of his greatest passions.
He is survived by his wife, Luisa Montilla Wells; mother and father, Mary and Aaron Wells; brother, Ryan Wells; mother-and father-in-laws, Mirna and Genaro Montilla; sisters-in-law, Jessica Montilla Smith, Melissa Montilla and Elise Wells; brother-in-law Carlos Lisimba Montilla Smith and loving pets Nina, Sage and Rambo.
Eric was stopped at a stoplight at 56th street and Brendon Way Drive and was struck by a police cruiser driven by an intoxicated police officer. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Officer David Bisard's blood registered 0.19% alcohol. An IMPD internal investigation publicly released on November 11, 2010 revealed the following:
"The determination of the Marion County Crime Lab and from all investigators from the Professional Standards Division was that the blood alcohol from David Bisard was .19 and that is a fact. He violated the substance abuse policy of the department for being intoxicated while on duty. He violated the police vehicle operation policy for running under emergency conditions when it was not warranted. He violated the use of communication devices by sending non-business-related messages. And by preponderance of the evidence which is a requirement in administrative investigations, he violated all criminal charges that were initially filed including the alcohol charges."
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Monday, August 9, 2010 at Conkle Funeral Home Speeday Chapel in Speedway, IN. Services will be held at Conkle Funeral Home 10 am, Tuesday, August 10, 2010. A graveside burial will be held Tuesday, August 17th at Boca Cemetery at 10 a.m.
In order to keep his passion and memory alive, contributions to Fred Perry Bike Run for Kids can be made. Make donations payable to "Fred Perry Bike Run for Kids" with "Eric Wells Memorial" on the memo line.
