James and Minerva Turpen from Kentucky were married 15 May 1832 in Russell, Kentucky. They had the following children:

James Browder, Sr., was part of the Tuolumne County Pioneers, emigrants who crossed into California over the Sonora Pass in 1853 via the Waler River Trail, thankfully preserved for their descendants. James was listed along with Minerva, Clarissa (Clarina), Cordelia (Cornelia), Green, Josephine, Mary, Rosaline, Sarah, Victoria and William.
