Born in Jones County, he had lived in Macon for more than 70 years. An Army veteran, he retired from Central State Hospital.
He was a member of Tattnall Square Baptist Church, where he served as deacon emeritus trustee and treasurer. He was a member of the Finance Committee, Benevolent Committee, the Bailey Mozo Bible Class and the brotherhood of the church.
Survivors include his wife Helen Amerson Emerson; and daughter, Betty Emerson Biddle of Atlanta, Georgia.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight in Snow's Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Ave. and may be contacted at 275 Audubon Place, Macon 31204.
