FORMER RESIDENT DEAD
Mrs. J. L. Mennealy, a former resident of Villisca died Thursday afternoon of last week at her home in Grant. Death followed a sickness from pneumonia. The deceased will be remembered in Villisca as Mrs. Ruth Graham, and while a resident of this city resided in the property two blocks east of the high school building, then owned by her.
The deceased was 72 years old at the time of her death.
Ruth Waldon was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, September 25, 1844 and died at her home in Grant, Iowa, February 8, 1917, of bronchial pneumonia.
She came with her father to Jones County, Iowa in 1853. She was married to John Graham, September 25, 1867. They then settled in Cass County, in 1872. To this union were born seven children.
He husband preceded her to the grave 27 years ago.
Besides her children, she leaves one brother, Mahlon Waldson of Massena. Also 19 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; Thoburn Findley Peterson of Goodrich, North Dakota and Dorothy Graham of Creston, Iowa. Ruth Graham united with the Christian Church in girlhood and lived with that church until three years ago when she united with the M. E. Church at Grant.
On November 5, 1913, she was again united in marriage to J. L. Mennealy of Grant, who still survives her.
The husband and seven children by her first husband survive Mrs. Mennealy. The children are Mrs. Ira Lucy of Long Pine, Nebraska; Mrs. C. B. Dunn of north of Villisca; Mrs. John Rains of Alliance, Nebraska; Mrs. Nellie Findley of Wilton, North Dakota; The last mentioned was the only on of the children who was not able to be in attendance at the funeral services which were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist Church in Grant. Rev. C. F. Smith had charge of the services. Burial was made in the Arlington Cemetery north of this city.
Those from out of town besides the children were Mahlon Waldson, Mr. and MRs. Chas Cox, and Mr. and Mrs. Anson South.
