Minnie Kemp Adickes was the first woman land developer and Real Estate Agent in Wichita Falls.
Mrs. Adickes a widow with five daughters, ignored warnings of concerned relatives and entered the real estate business in 1906.
Mrs. Adickes, a sister of J.A. Kemp and sister in law of Frank Kell, who were partners in a myriad of pioneer industries in the city. "She built houses that people who worked for a daily living wage could pay for," paying off the debt without a contract at $5 to $10 a week.
Mrs. Adickes was a very public spirited and served on the YWCA board and was the first woman to serve on the school board for Wichita Falls.
