Charles Albert Hendryx was the forth child of Caleb Lincoln and Nina Avenia Folkins Hendryx. The grandson of Peter Parlee and Esther Ann Hannah Folkins and Caleb Seth and Mary Hemphill Hendryx. Charley's mother died of tuberculosis when he was 6 years old. He went to live with his grandmother Mary Hemphill Hendryx in 1901. Later when his father remarried Ella Oliphant, he lived with them in 1906. In 1907 his father Caleb died and he went to live with his Aunt Mel (Hendryx) and Uncle Phil Cress. Lastly living with his cousins; George Dale and Edna Neighbor Heefner.

He married Elva Bailey Hendryx Jan. 20, 1915 in Troy Mills. In 1920 he worked as a molder in the brass factory. In 1930 his occupation was listed as a Sub-Station Operator for the WCF&N Railroad. In 1958 he retired with 30 years of service as a clerk for Waterloo, Cedar Falls and Northern Railway (WCF&N).

In 1980 Charley and Elva celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary with a dinner reception in Marion. He was the father of five children; Vernon H, Freda M (McPeak), Robert C."Red", Dorothy L (Kollman), George "Duane" Hendryx. A member of the First Christian Church of Center Point.
