John Albertese Smith, was the second son of Albert C. Smith and Susannah "Sukey" Eckerson. (Possibly born in New York City.) He was a farmer in mid-life in Franklin Township, New Jersey (Later called Waldwick, and then, Wyckoff) ; though I've heard stories of him owning and running a sawmill there too. He married Abigail Van Blarcom at Waldwick United Methodist Church on Nov 16, 1805. They had 4 children.
He wrote his will in Dec of 1847 and it was probated two weeks after his death in 1848. He divided certain possessions amongst his wife and children. He requested everything remaining be sold and the profits divided.

I knew that stone marker existed once, because of the above entry. I visited you today. I still can't explain it but, upon a second pass by, I stooped down and dug out his stone from the dirt and leaves!
