Services were held in Mottell's chapel for Thadeus Stevens Smith, 69, widely known Long Beach attorney of 616 Orange Avenue, who died Friday [Aug. 8, 1947] in a local hospital.
Smith was born in Bedford, PA, and had been in general law practice for 18 years, coming here 22 years ago from Billings, Montana.
He formerly was associated with Clyde Doyle, former congressman, and was a member of the industrial committee of the Chamber of Commerce, All States society, Missouri State society, president for 10 years of the Montana State society, a member of the Pennsylvania State society, California Bar association and Long Beach Bar association.
[He was the son of William C. and Margaret E. Smith of Everett, Bedford County, PA.]
Survivors include two brothers, Scott C. and W. C. [William] Smith of Long Beach; two sisters, Mrs. Nella Shirley, Compton, and Mrs. Evelyn Ogle, Long Beach, a nephew and foster son, Robert S. Coleman of San Francisco, 13 nephews and nieces.

Interment was in Westminster Memorial park.
