Della was born in Center Township, Greene County, Indiana. She was the 6th child born to William Andrew Martindale and Elizabeth Jane (Royal) Martindale. She received her formal education and grew to adulthood in this area, residing on a farm with her parents, three sisters and five brothers. At age 21 and about 1909 Floradella married Ezra E. Brosman.
Ezra and Floradella Brosman relocated to Champaign, Champaign Co., IL soon after their marriage and remained in that area most of their married life.

In 1929 Ezra E. & Floradella (Martindale) Brosman adopted five-year-old Herold Dale Stringfellow in Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana. Herold Dale Stringfellow was born May 14, 1924, the great-nephew of Floradella, son of her nephew, Chester Stringfellow, and his wife, Christina Jackson Stringfellow. Herold Dale's mother Christina died October 7, 1929 and his father Chester Stringfellow agreed to the adoption. Chester was the son of Floradella's sister Aytchaphala Martindale Stringfellow and Truman Stringfellow.

Harold Dale Brosman grew to adulthood in the home of Ezra and Floradella Brosman in the area of Champaign, Illinois and had a long military career in the Air Force, married and settled with his wife and children in Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusettes where he died May 2, 2003.

Sometime after Ezra E. Brosman passed away in Champaign County, Illinois in 1963, Floradella relocated to Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts to live near their son Harold Dale. She passed away there in 1972.
