James Alvin, Jr. first married Amy Myers on October 15, 1915 in Garland County, Arkansas. I am showing they had two sons. James and Amy were later divorced.
1--Claud O. [1916-1918]
2--Alva [1918-????]
Nothing is known of Alva.
James Alvin, Sr. then married Thelma Ellen Sellers in 1924 in Hot Springs, Garland County, Arkansas. They had two children. James, Sr. and Thelma divorced.
1--Wanda [1925-1999]
2--James "Jimmy" Alvin, Jr. [1930-????]
No one knew about these two children until Jimmy's wife Carol contacted me in 2009. After Thelma and James, Sr. were divorced, Thelma remarried Petty Paul Childs on May 9, 1934 in Hot Springs, Garland County, Arkansas. Paul adopted Jimmy, but Wanda did not want to be adopted. She kept the Anderson name until she married. Her married name was Soper. Jimmy's wife says she uses both last names for future genealogists. Jimmy Anderson Childs.
James Floyd Shackelford, a first cousin to James Alvin, Sr. did not know of these children. I wish he was still living so I could share this information with him. James also told me that James Alvin left Hot Springs to work. It was while he was in Texas that he met his third wife, Johnnie Bernice Beaver. After they married they moved back to Arkansas. No record of dates or place of marriage. As far as is known, they did not have any children.
There was also a son named Bill that was named in James Alvin Sr.'s obituary, but we do not know who his mother was.
James Alvin, Sr. may have been married more times than what I show, but this is all the information we have on him at this time.
James Alvin, Sr. served in W.W. I with the ARK CO A 142 Machine Gun Bn.
The picture of James was given to me by Carol Childs and the picture of his headstone was added by widowmate.
James Alvin and I were first cousins, twice removed.
