Cora Hacking and Marvin Rudger Mitchell Family

Marvin Rudger Mitchell met, courted and married Cora Hacking in Vernal, Utah. This marriage was blessed with 14 children. They have raised 11 of them. Over the years they have worked hard, with almost every thought and deed for the welfare of their family, trying to teach them honesty, truthfulness, kindness, and to love God and keep his commandments. They taught by example as well as by word, and I as one of their children wish to say that they are the most wonderful parents anyone could ask for.

In 1917 Marvin and Cora moved from Vernal to Neola where they made their home until they moved to Salt Lake City in 1943. Dad drove the first school bus in Duchesne County. He continued driving busses for 15 years. He also worked in the timber and farmed. He was Deputy Sheriff for eight years. Later Marvin and Cora owned and operated a service station, garage, and grocery store. For the past 14 years he has been employed at the Kennecott Copper Corporation.

Cora, all those years has been a most faithful wife and mother, hard-working, patient and understanding. Their wise council even now is asked by all us kids when something big comes up. Their years of experience are not to be lightly overlooked.

Marvin and Cora have always worked in the Church. He was an M I A counselor in Hayden Ward, in the Bishopric twice in Neola, in the genealogical society in Neola, and also a home missionary for Roosevelt Stake. He had worked in genealogy, having completed one year as president of the Gospel Doctrine class in East Midvale 2nd Ward. (They have had their home in Midvale since 1947.)

Cora, along with rearing a big family, plus many outside chores, has worked in the Primary and been a most active member of the Relief Society. With her daughter Mildred as her companion, they went for four years without missing a month's visit. For this they both received an award and a pin.

Every male member of this family is an ardent fisherman and hunter.
