Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until December 20, 1945.

Robert served as a Staff Sergeant & Turret Gunner on B-25D "Lil De Icer" #41-29731, 90th Bomber Squadron, 3rd Bomber Group, Light, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Coos County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on November 16, 1940, prior to the war, in Concord, New Hampshire. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

B-25D #41-29731 took off from 17-Mile Drome near Port Moresby on an armed reconnaissance flight to Gasmata, Lae, Buna and Hood Point. This bomber failed to return and there were no witnesses to the crash.

Robert was declared "Missing In Action" on this flight during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
