Donald served as a Technical Sergeant & Engineer on C-47A #43-36746, 339th Fighter Squadron, 347th Fighter Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Cherry County, Nebraska prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 14, 1941, prior to the war, at Fort Omaha, Omaha, Nebraska. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Farm Hand and also as Single, without dependents.

Donald killed in the "Line Of Duty" when C-47A #43-36746 crashed, possibly due to bad weather, in the New Guinea jungles 15 miles due west of Finschhafen near the native village of Maikisung during the war.

Donald also has a "Cenotaph" in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Valentine, Nebraska with his parents.
