Son of Mr. & Mrs. Emile Hermel Parent.

Jean "Paul" served as an Ensign and Pilot, USS Franklin (CV-13), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Berlin, Coos County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

Jean was "Killed In Action" when his plane went down in flames while providing support for the Marines fighting on Peleliu Island during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

Service # 299317

Fellow New Hampshirite and Pilot:
Ensign Norman Emery Drouin,
suffered the same fate on the same day also on Peleliu Island.
