Robert served as a Sergeant & Radio Operator / Gunner on B-25J #025, 405th Bomber Squadron, 38th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Sullivan County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

B-25J #025 took off from Yontan Airdrome, Okinawa on a ship searching mission. They had to ditch in the sea off Amami Shima for an unknown reason during the war.

Robert was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
