Son of Mr. & Mrs. Edward S. King.

His brother, Thomas Augustus King, named his son Daniel Francis King in honor of his brother.

Daniel served as a Private First Class, 3rd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He resided in Concord, Merrimack County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Marine Corps on September 7, 1943. He was sent to Parris Island, South Carolina for his basic training.

Daniel was declared "Killed In Action" in the Battle of Peleliu Island (Code Name: Operation Stalemate II) during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

He was buried at sea.
