Brother of Charles Dillman who resided in Oxford, Nebraska.

Robert served as a Staff Sergeant & Co-Pilot on C-47 #41-18658, 33rd Squadron, 374th Troop Carrier Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Furnas County, Nebraska prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on May 21, 1942 at Mather Field, Mills, California. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Retail manager and also as Single, without dependents.

C-47 #41-18658 took off, with a crew of 6, from Henderson Field, Guadalcanal and they crashed into the sea and burned soon after take off, for an unknown reason, just north of Henderson Field, Guadalcanal.

Robert was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.
