Son of Mrs. Dimond Blougouras.

William served as a Seaman, First Class, U.S.S. Foote (DD-511), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Dover, Strafford County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

The Foote, in the Battle of Empress Augusta Bay, was hit by an enemy torpedo which blew off her stern. She lost 19 crewman killed and 17 wounded. The Battle of Empress Augusta Bay was considered a victory for the United States.

William was declared "Missing In Action" in this attack during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Service # 5730129

The Foote survived the attack and the war and received four battle stars for World War II service.
