Nephew of Mrs. Marian C. Tietz who resided in Plainfield, New Jersey.

William served as a First Lieutenant & Pilot on B-25D #41-30640, 75th Bomber Squadron, 42nd Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Somerset County, New Jersey prior to the war.

B-25D #41-30640, while on a training flight with a crew of 3, developed serious problems with the control and crashed into the sea during the war.

William was declared "Missing In Action" in the "Line Of Duty" in this crash.

He was awarded the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters.
