Edward served as a Staff Sergeant on A-20G (#42-86730), 90th Bomber Squadron, 3rd Bomber Group, Light, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on January 5, 1942 in Manchester, New Hampshire. He was noted as being employed as a Driver and also as Single, without dependents.

Edward was declared "Missing In Action" during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.

The A-20 Edward was on departed Nadzab for a strike on Wewak. The last contact by radio was: "just south of Sepik river, engine vibrating badly - governor out". The pilot feathered the engine and was instructed to fly course 135 degs to Dumpu and 120 degs from then on. The plane was not heard from again.

Service # 11036100

In September, 1970 his remains were found on Mt Shrader, 120 miles West of Madang and recovered.

It is unknown where his remains were later interred.
