Husband of Ethel K. Snodgrass who resided in Baltimore, Maryland during the war.

Ray served as a Lieutenant Junior Grade, USS Edsall (DD-219), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in West Virginia prior to the war.

Ray was declared "Missing In Action" when the Edsall was sunk when a total of 26 Type 99 Japanese divebombers attacked in the Indian Ocean during the war. He was awarded a Purple Heart.
