Edwin Haase, who entered the service shortly after harvest last fall, was killed in action on Luzon on May 31, where he was serving with the 129th infantry. He is survived by his daughter, his parents, 10 brothers and 4 sisters. A Memorial service for Edwin Haase was held at St. Matthews Congregational Church, the Rev. J. P. Flemmer conducted the service. The American Legion attended in a body and present the flag, Commander A. W. Birge announced the group will meet at the Legion hall at 7 o'clock, and proceed to the church from there. ref: Odessa Record 5 Jul 1945
