He was taken prisoner in the capture of the Bataan Peninsula & Corregidor, Philippine Islands in April & May, 1942.
James "Died While A POW" of the Japanese Army in the Japanese POW Osaka Main Camp, Chikko, Osaka 34-135 during the war.
He was awarded the Prisoner of War Medal and the Purple Heart.
