Brother of Charles A. Centabar who resided in Essex Junction, Vermont.

Gordon served as a Technician Third Grade, 172nd Infantry Regiment, 43rd Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Chittenden County, Vermont & was a member of the Vermont National Guard prior to the war.

His National Guard unit was called into full time active Army service on February 24, 1941, prior to the war, from Bennington, Vermont. He was noted, at that time, as being employed as a Recreation and/or Amusement Attendant and also as Single, without dependents.

Gordon was "Killed In Action" on Luzon Island, Philippines during the war.

He was awarded the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster.
