Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until January 11, 1946.

Husband of Elizabeth H. Schmidt who resided in Annapolis, Maryland during the war.

Maximilian served as the Commander, U.S.S. Scorpion (SS-278), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He resided in Missouri prior to the war.

Maximilian was declared "Missing In Action" when the Scorpion possibly struck a mined in the Yellow Sea during the war.

He was awarded the "Navy Cross", Bronze Star, and a Purple Heart.
