Keclik was a gunner on B-17F #41-24427, assigned to the 5th Air Force, 19th Bombardment Group, 30th Bombardment Squadron.

They took off from Port Morsby on a mission to bomb Rabaul, and were not heard from again.

Because his body was never recovered, he is listed on the Tablets of the Missing. The US Army officially declared him dead on January 7, 1946.

He received the Silver Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart.

Keclik is also memorialized in Fort Scott National Cemetery in Kansas.
