Broadus served as a Sergeant, 320th Bomber Squadron, 90th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Washington, D.C. prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on January 5, 1942 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Messenger and also as Single, without dependents.

He was married after his enlistment.

Broadus was a passenger on C-46D #44-77452.

C-46D #44-77452 took off from Mokmer Airfield, Papua New Guinea on an operational flight to Morotai Airfield, Indonesia. They never arrived at Morotai and were considered a possible battle casualty.
