William, who resided in Summit Bridge, Delaware, served as a Yeoman First Class with the U.S.S. Mount Hood (AE-11), U.S. Navy during World War II.

He enlisted in the Navy on November 12, 1942 in Wilmington, Delaware.

William was declared "Missing In Action" when the U.S.S. Mount Hood exploded, for an unknown reason, and sunk in the Pacific Ocean during the war.

He had served in the Navy for two years at the time of his death.

Service # 7225712

William was the only Delawarean to perish on the Mount Hood.

Son of Claude B. Voshell and Mae Schrader Voshell.

It is believed that Claude B. Voshell was his step-father.
