Raymond served as a Staff Sergeant & Armour / Gunner on B-25J #43-27819, 500th Bomber Squadron, 345th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in the District Of Columbia prior to the war.

B-25J #43-27819, while on a bombing mission, was hit by enemy anti-aircraft fire over Toyohara Airdrome in Formosa (current day Taiwan) and crashed into the sea and exploded 10 miles due west of Formosa.

Raymond was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
